Wills & Estate Planning
Why a single will is rarely enough for educators with assets and family in more than one country.
If you hold assets or have dependants in more than one country, a single will is rarely sufficient. A will valid in one jurisdiction may not be recognised in another, and relying on one document can lead to probate delays and unintended outcomes.
International educators commonly benefit from coordinated wills, for example a UK will alongside a will in the country where they live and hold property. Properly structured, these work together rather than conflicting.
The aim is a set of wills that work together and keep working as you move, not a document that is right for one country and wrong for the next.
